The main objective of the Internet is providing the necessary information. To find the information you need to know the address of a web page that contains the information.

It is better to search for the necessary information on the web via search engines. Search engine is a specialized Web-site. Search engines are classified according to the methods of search.

Search directories are designed to search for topics. Usually they are built in a hierarchical manner, ie, each search step is choosing a more specific sub-theme of the required information. At the lower level search user receives a relatively small list of links to the required information.

Search index provides searches with the help of given keywords. Typically, keywords are entered when filling out a special form of search, and then pressing the search button. The search generates a set of hyperlinks to Web pages containing those terms. Typically, search indexes give a huge amount of pages required.

This list contains links to various Web pages, with links arranged in descending order encountered in these pages of words that match the keywords. When viewing the list you should select the pages you want to view. Some systems make up a list of references on the degree of pages relevance, while others – the degree of likelihood that these sites will be sought. Calculation of the probability is based on data about how quickly the page appears in search terms. The first in this list are links to those pages that have the keywords found already in the title.

Search directories provide access to fewer pages than the search index, but they rather point to key network resources. Therefore, during the initial search for information it is appropriate to use search directories. A skilled Internet user use search indexes. They allow you to locate obscure and highly specialized resources. Many modern search engines combine both methods.

The program Internet Explorer 5.0 has a special means of searching without an explicit reference to search engines. If using Internet Explorer you click on the Search button on the left Use the search box you can type key words to search for and choose a search engine. Search results will be reflected on the right side of the browser window. If you select the desired link, then in the right window there will be the contents of the selected page. To hide the search box, you must click on the Search button again.

When you work with Internet Ehr1orer you can search directly in the Address field. Underneath the address bar there is the word search: the search phrase. You can search by clicking the Start button and selecting the menu to Find. Internet Explorer window will open itself to the already pressing the search button.

If you can’t find what you are looking for you can use related links. For any Web page you can view a list of links related thereto, may be among them there would be just what you need. To view the related links, you must do the following. You must select the Tools menu, click Show Related Links. Then on the toolbar, click Search, and in the left side of the screen there is a window containing a list of links associated with this page. You have to click one of the options, and view it in the right window of the corresponding Web-page. To hide the search box, you need to make a click on the Search button.
